6th Annual Sitrin Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basketball Game

NEW HARTFORD – The 6th Annual Sitrin Celebrity Wheelchair Basketball Game will be played on Thursday, April 24th, at 6:30 p.m. at the New Hartford High School gymnasium. Doors open at 6 p.m. This year’s game will feature a new format.

At 6:30 p.m., top local high school and college basketball players will face off in the first ever All-Star Game. During the 20 minute game, players from HCCC, MVCC, Utica College, New Hartford, New York Mills, Notre Dame, Oriskany, Proctor, Rome Catholic High, VVS, and Whitesboro will take center court. The All-Star Game will feature two-time Mohawk Valley High School Player of the Year DeAndre Preaster, and HCCC’s two-time National Junior College Region III Player of the Year Robby Marshall.

The second period of the night will be the Celebrity Game, where a number of local celebrities will play against the Sitrin STARS team. Ultimate Fighter Matt “The Hammer” Hamill, Symeon Tsoupelis, Jr., of Symeon’s Restaurant, Alex Carbone of the Carbone Auto Group, Boilermaker founder Earle Reed, and KISS-FM’s Gary Spears are among the featured celebrities.
The final period of the game will feature the players from the All-Star game versus the Sitrin STARS. Each period will run 20 minutes, with a 3-point competition and a sports memorabilia raffle during the intermission.

Tickets for the event are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children five years of age and under. Tickets can be purchased at Sitrin or at the door. All proceeds benefit the Sitrin STARS Program, which is an adaptive sports and recreation program for individuals with disabilities. Sponsors for the event include The Hartford, Empire Recycling, Carbone Autogroup, KISS-FM, and Kiwanis of Utica.
