Sitrin’s STARS (Success Through Adaptive Recreation and Sports) program is pleased to present its first adaptive shooting clinic on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Sitrin’s Community Center on Sitrin Lane in New Hartford. NRA instructor, Vanessa Warner, Manager for Disabled Shooting Services, will introduce individuals with disabilities to competitive shooting and provide an overview about air rifles. Other topics will include gun safety, equipment, fundamentals, and shooting positions.
All participants are requested to pre-register for this event by Friday, December 4. Instruction sessions will be offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. Participation in this event is free; however, space is limited. Created in 2001, STARS provides people with physical disabilities a number of exciting athletic opportunities that enable them to compete throughout the country, and around the world. In addition to competitive shooting, the STARS program includes golf, paddling, curling, basketball, and road racing.
