22nd Annual Cross Country Ski Challenge to Support Sitrin's New Adaptive Ski Program

Community members are welcome to participate in the 22nd annual Cross Country Ski Challenge to be held on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Boonville Search & Rescue Building on Rt. 12 in Boonville.  Due to reorganizational changes, this year’s Challenge will benefit the new adaptive cross-country ski program at the Sitrin Medical Rehabilitation Center, a not-for-profit corporation located in New Hartford, NY.

Participants will have the option of skiing one mile, three miles, or six miles of marked and groomed trails. “You don’t have to be an expert in order to ski,” said event Chairperson Sylvia Hough.  “Join your friends and others and frolic in the flakes, and ski miles for the Sitrin Medical Rehabilitation Center.”

A minimum entry fee of $50.00 is required, which can be raised through donations from family, friends, and co-workers.  Individuals may pay at the door on the day of the event.  Registration will take place from 8 – 9 a.m. at the Boonville Search and Rescue Building.  A special prize will be awarded to the skier who raises $750.00 or more in donations.  A commemorative sweatshirt will be given to everyone who brings in $175.00 in donations, and those raising $150.00 or more will be eligible for other prizes.  Also, skiers who wear wild and crazy hats will have a chance to win the Crazy Hat Contest!

To be eligible for prizes, all money must be received at registration.  All contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to purchase equipment for Sitrin’s new adaptive cross-country ski program, including sit-ski frames, skis, and mountain boards, which are very specialized in order to adapt to different peoples’ abilities.  Monies for a local trail system are also needed.  All funds raised will benefit the local community.

Official entry forms are needed.  For more information, or to receive an entry form and/or pre-register for the ski challenge, please contact Sylvia Hough at 315-525-7952 or Cheryl Jassak at 315-737-2245.  Forms can also be easily downloaded here.
