Paddle With the Sitrin STARS

Sitrin is welcoming new participants for its adaptive paddling program! The Sitrin STARS (Success Through Adaptive Recreation and Sports) adaptive paddling program offers several outings for individuals with physical disabilities. Family members and caregivers are also invited to participate.

Dates for upcoming events include:

Saturday, June 20, 2009 – Prospect Pond
Sunday, July 19, 2009 – Hunt’s Pond
Saturday, August 15, 2009 – John Dillon State Park
Sunday, September 6, 2009 – Brown Tract Pond
Saturday, October 3, 2009 – Moose River and Rail

Kayaks, canoes, and other paddling equipment will be provided at no charge to participants. The program features several workshops presented by certified instructors of the American Canoe Association, who train participants in proper adaptive paddling techniques and safety procedures.

Created in 2001, STARS provides people with physical disabilities a number of exciting athletic opportunities that enable them to compete throughout the country, and around the world. In addition to paddling, the STARS program includes golf, basketball, curling, and road racing.
