The Recreation Therapy Department at the Sitrin Health Care Center celebrated its veterans today at a ceremony in honor of Veterans’ Day.
In addition to the presenting our flag, reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, and singing the National Anthem, Sitrin staff, friends, and family members came together to recognize 36 veterans. Sitrin has veterans from both World War II and the Korean War residing in its long-term care facility.
Sitrin Health Care Center provides opportunities all year long for veterans to come together and discuss their service to our country, through its Veterans and Friends Group. The group enables veterans to share stories, watch documentaries, and listen to informational speakers from various veterans’ organizations. The group meets twice a month.
The Veterans and Friends Group, which is one of many programs and groups coordinated by the Recreation Therapy Department, was created by Susan McVoy-Barnard, the daughter of Bob McVoy, a POW from World War II, who resides at Sitrin’s long-term care facility.
