Giacovelli Selected for Long-Term Care Employee of Distinction Award
by New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (NYAHSA)
NEW HARTFORD – Sitrin recreation therapy leader Maggie Giacovelli, of Utica, is being recognized statewide for her extraordinary dedication to providing quality care to residents. Giacovelli has been selected to receive an Employee of Distinction Award by the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging.
Giacovelli started working in Sitrin’s recreation therapy department in the summer of 2004 as part of Oneida County’s Summer Youth Work Program. At the end of the summer, she continued to volunteer at Sitrin. As a result of her commitment to Sitrin residents and patients, she was hired a short time later. According to Angela Carroll, director of recreation therapy, “Maggie’s humor, energy, and love for life are contagious. She prides herself on providing the best quality of life and care possible for everyone living at Sitrin.”
Giacovelli was nominated by several Sitrin employees, as well as a grateful family member of a Sitrin resident. At Sitrin, her responsibilities include one-on-one therapies for 45 residents, many of whom require a great deal of care and attention. This interaction is very important, and she treats each patient with the utmost respect.
NYAHSA President Carl Young will formally present Maggie Giacovelli with a certificate, cash award, and legislative resolution on Tuesday, December 4th at 11 a.m. in Conference Room “C” of the Sitrin Medical Rehabilitation Center, 2050 Tilden Avenue, New Hartford.
