GROUNDBREAKING DATE ANNOUNCED FOR SITRIN’S $38 MILLION EXPANSION
NEW HARTFORD 8/2/07 – The much-anticipated groundbreaking for the Sitrin Health Care Center’s $38 million expansion project will take place on Thursday, August 9 at 10 a.m. A ceremony and reception will be held outdoors adjacent to the Sitrin Medical Rehabilitation Center, and media kits will be available.
Sitrin is the first health care center in New York State to be approved by the Department of Health to build long-term care houses. Accordingly, it will be the first to offer residential-style services for people requiring long-term care, thus becoming a model for skilled nursing care in the State.
Unlike the traditional institutionalized setting of nursing home facilities across the state, Sitrin will provide a long-term care setting indicative of one’s home – offering its skilled nursing population more personalized and individualized care. Nine houses will be constructed to accommodate individuals currently residing at Sitrin. They will include private bedrooms and bathrooms for each resident, fireplaces, gardens, landscaped yards, and more.
Along with the residential-style homes, the expansion project will also include the renovation of two nursing home wings with private rooms for post-acute and clinically complex rehabilitation patients, and the construction of Cedarbrook, which will consist of 44 assisted living apartments.
It is anticipated that Sitrin’s multi-million dollar expansion will be complete by spring of 2009.
The Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation, is located on Tilden Avenue in New Hartford, NY.
