Miniature Horses Visit Sitrin Residents and Preschoolers
There was some “horsing around” – albeit miniature – at Sitrin on Monday, August 18, 2008. Miniature horses from Triple Creek Farms in West Winfield visited residents and children from Sitrin’s Preschool Partners Program. Owners MaryLou and Bob Thall transported the horses to Sitrin for this unique visit.
The children and adults had a great time brushing and petting “Bucky” and “Toot.” The miniature horses have been trained for therapeutic purposes, and familiar with the high levels of attention and activity.
Sitrin’s Preschool Partners Program is an intergenerational program that couples children from Sitrin’s Child Care Center with residents from its long-term care facility. The two groups come together every Monday to participate in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, reading, and special events.
The Preschool Partners Program brings generations together in a most meaningful way while enhancing socialization for both children and the elderly. Sitrin has been providing intergenerational activities since 1995.
