Q: What is Cedarbrook?
A: Cedarbrook is an assisted living complex consisting of 44 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Individuals can live independently with support services available as their needs change. Cedarbrook is affiliated with the Sitrin Health Care Center, which has been providing innovative health and rehabilitative services to the community for more than a half century.
Q: What types of services will Cedarbrook provide?
A: Cedarbrook is a licensed assisted living provider regulated by the New York State Department of Health. In conjunction with its approved licensing, services will include:
- 24-hour onsite staff
- Emergency call system
- Case Management
- Home health aide services
- A consulting dietician and nutritious meals
- Housekeeping and laundry services
- Social and recreational activities
- Scheduled transportation
- Assistance with medical appointments and medications
- Additional individual and personal care assistance as needed
Q: What apartment options are available?
A: Cedarbrook will offer four types of apartments:
- One bedroom
- One bedroom with den
- Two bedroom
- Deluxe two bedroom
Q: What is the cost for assisted living services at Cedarbrook?
A: Cedarbrook offers a tiered fee arrangement. This is based on the size of the apartment selected and the individual’s level of care, as assessed by a registered nurse using a process approved by the New York State Department of Health.
Q: Is there a deposit required for Cedarbrook? How about an entrance fee?
A: The deposit required is one month’s rent. Tenants can put down a deposit to hold the apartment. There is no entrance fee.
Q: How will I know what level of care I will need?
A: Cedarbrook’s nursing staff will evaluate a prospective tenant before his or her entrance to ensure the proper level of care.
Q: Can I leave the facility for holidays and weekends?
A: Cedarbrook is your home, so you are free to come and go as you please.
Q: Is it a safe place to live?
A: Cedarbrook is a secure building, and staff will be onsite 24 hours a day.
Q: Will I have any storage space?
A: Locked storage space is available for all tenants. It is included in the cost of rent.
Q: Is transportation available for medical appointments?
A: Yes, scheduled transportation will be provided for nearby medical appointments.
Q: Will Cedarbrook offer trips to the grocery store?
A: Cedarbrook will offer scheduled trips to the grocery store. Additionally, a convenience store will be located onsite.
Q: Will all of my meals be provided?
A: At least two meals will be available each day. You can choose which meals you would like to receive. You can also cook for yourself in your apartment.
Q: Will Cedarbrook be kosher?
A: No, the facility will not be kosher. However, tenants can choose to keep their own apartments kosher.
Q: Where will my meals be served?
A: Meals will be served in Cedarbrook’s beautiful dining room. There will be a delivery charge for tenants who choose to eat in their rooms. However, if a patient is ill, meals will be delivered for free to his or her apartment for a specified length of time.
Q: If I have a visitor, will he or she be able to eat a meal with me in the dining room?
A: Yes, guests can purchase meals in the dining room.
Q: Will Medicaid cover the cost of Cedarbrook?
A: There are a limited number of Medicaid slots available.
Q: May I have a friend or family member as an overnight guest?
A: Yes, tenants may have overnight guests. They can choose to stay with you in your apartment, or they can reserve one of three guest rooms.
Q: Do I need to bring my own furniture/curtains when I move into Cedarbrook?
A: Tenants are encouraged to bring their own furniture and curtains; however, basic furniture will be available if needed. Mini-blinds will be provided in each apartment.
Q: Are utilities included in the rent?
A: Yes, all utilities are included in the rent. Cable, phone, and Internet services are not included.
Q: Can I bring my vehicle if I move into Cedarbrook?
A: Yes, tenants can bring a vehicle. Outside parking is available. Garage space is also available for an additional cost.
Q: Will there be planned activities at Cedarbrook?
A: Yes, social and recreational activities will be available for all tenants. It is your choice as to whether you participate.
Q: Can two people who require different levels of care move in together?
A: Yes, each tenant will be assessed separately. The second person will have a discounted rate for rent. However, according to Department of Health regulations, two people must rent a two-bedroom apartment.
Q: Will apartments include appliances?
A: Major appliances are included in the apartments, including a stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher.
Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: Yes, small pets are allowed, however some restrictions apply. Please refer to the pet policy for details.
