Sitrin Now Offering ZUMBA Fitness Class

The Sitrin Health Care Center is excited to offer Zumba Fitness to the community. Zumba Fitness is an exhilarating class, which combines exotic music and easy-to-follow dance movements to tone muscle and burn fat. It’s a fun and effective workout for people of all ages. Karen Pohorecki, Sitrin’s licensed Zumba instructor, will lead the class on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. starting December 20 through February 7.

Boilermaker Wheelchair Challengers Receive New Racing Chairs

Boilermaker Wheelchair Challengers Anthony Grieco, of Utica, and Cody Arnold, of Syracuse, proudly accepted their new racing wheelchairs during a formal presentation at Sitrin. The racing wheelchairs, valued at $2,500 each, were generously donated by Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Sitrin. Sitrin is the sponsor of the Boilermaker Wheelchair Division.

Proposed Equestrian Therapy Center to be Built at Sitrin

The Root Farm, a center of excellence for equine-assisted therapies for more than 14 years, is aligning with the Sitrin Health Care Center, Upstate Cerebral Palsy/The Kelberman Center. This joint effort will result in a new facility that will significantly increase equine-assisted therapies and recreational opportunities for a diverse population including children and adults with disabilities, veterans, and injured servicemembers.

Sitrin Audiologist Obtains Specialty Certification in Pediatrics

Sitrin Audiologist, Dr. Kimberly Keane recently became one of the first seven people nationally to obtain Pediatric Audiology Specialty Certification (PASC) from the American Board of Audiology.  Dr. Keane has demonstrated her high level of knowledge in the area of pediatric audiology by passing a rigorous examination.

Sitrin Offers Adaptive Biathlon Clinic

Sitrin, in conjunction with the United States Paralympics, is offering a free adaptive biathlon clinic on Saturday, September 17 at Sitrin Health Care Center in New Hartford, and F. T. Proctor Park in Utica. Instruction will be led by U.S. Biathlon Paralympic Coach Robert Rosser, who will discuss equipment and training regimens, as well as provide hands-on training.

Sitrin Offers Free Chair Yoga Class

NEW HARTFORD - Sitrin will host a chair yoga class on Monday, August 15, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Conference Room “C” at the Sitrin Medical Rehabilitation Center on Tilden Avenue in New Hartford. The class, which will be led by certified chair yoga instructor Stephanie DeVault, is free and open to all individuals with physical disabilities.

 NEW HARTFORD - It’s nearly time for tip-off! The 9th Annual Sitrin Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basketball Game will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the New Hartford Senior High School gymnasium. This unique event benefits the Sitrin STARS (Success Through Adaptive Recreation and Sports) program, and pits wheelchair athletes against local celebrities in two challenging and often hilarious 20-minute halves.
