Annual Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basketball Game

A large group came out to cheer as a team of celebrity, high school, and college basketball all-stars took the court against formidable athletes from the Sitrin STARS basketball team.   This special event featured autographs from the celebrity team, a silent auction of sports memorabilia, and more.

 

The 2008 Celebrity Wheelchair Basketball Game, held on Thursday, April 24 featured Senator Joseph Griffo, UFC light heavyweight Matt "The Hammer" Hamill, and radio personalities Gary Spears and Bill Keller on the celebrity team. DeAndre Preaster, the two-time Central New York Basketball Player of the Year, and Robby Marshall, a First Team All-American and Region III Player of the Year from Herkimer County Community College highlighted the All-Star teams.

Auction items included:

• Poster and basketball autographed by the Syracuse University Men's Basketball team
• Basketball autographed by S.U. legend Gerry McNamara
• NASCAR memorabilia package
• Matt Hamill UFC autographed memorabilia

Next year's line-up promises to be just as stellar.  Proceeds benefit the Sitrin STARS program.
