For more than 40 years, Sitrin's daytime adult program has been a popular spot for individuals in the Mohawk Valley. Known as OPAL (Opportunities & Possibilities for Active Living), this innovative program offers the best of both worlds, providing assistance to those who need it, but do not require skilled nursing care, and opportunities for social activities and engagements.
A great way to spend the day!
Located within Sitrin Health Care Center on Tilden Avenue in New Hartford, OPAL provides flexible, individualized services during the day, making it possible for individuals to continue living at home while receiving the personal care, nutrition, and therapies they need at Sitrin.
Just as importantly, the program gives adults the opportunity to make friends, take part in activities, and enjoy life in a safe and supportive environment – one that brings a greater sense of well-being to participants and their families.
Selection of Services
The OPAL program offers a comprehensive array of services that enable adults to live as full a life as possible. The program is designed to meet both the medical and social needs of adults.
Medical Model Program
In addition to having a Licensed Nurse within the program, this model is also available seven days a week and includes meals and snacks, personal care assistance, medication administration, physician prescribed treatments, and therapy services, as well as recreational activities and community outings.
This model is specifically designed for individuals who may have physical or cognitive conditions that require supervision and monitoring.
Social Model Program
The social program, which is available on weekdays, includes meals and snacks, cooking workshops, creative activities, lunch and community outings, theme celebrations, as well as basic first aid, personal care assistance, and medication supervision, if needed. This model provides individuals with an opportunity for social interaction with peers.
This program is supported by Oneida County Office for the Aging and Continuing Care, New York State Office for the Aging, and the Federal Administration on Community Living.
