3rd Annual Riggie Run, Walk & Riggiefest a Major Success

The 3rd annual Sitrin Riggie Run, Walk and Riggiefest was held on Sunday, Oct. 12 at SUNY Poly and there was more of everything! More runners and walkers, more participants in the Kids Run, more restaurants, more donations… all in a larger space in the Wildcat Field House.

We also expected a record-breaking crowd for this year’s Riggiefest, and we were not disappointed! More than a thousand people came to sample delicious chicken riggies from 15 area restaurants, and vote for their favorite. Taking home the trophy for best overall was once again Maggiolino’s, while Tony’s of Washington Mills won the award for most creative, for putting a little “Louisiana Gumbo” twist on Utica’s classic dish.

All winners in our book, other riggie-making restaurants included Ambasador, Tony’s Pizzeria & Deli, Trackside, Pizzeria Italia, Wildcat Hospitality, Portofino, Food Rescue Food Truck, Jonny B’s Tavern, American Pie of Rome, Artani’s, McGill’s, Momma’s Comfort Foods LLC, and Marine Corps League.

The presenting sponsor was Adirondack Bank, with additional sponsors Mastrovito Hyundai, BAE Systems, NYCM Insurance, Mohawk Valley Association of REALTORS®, The Good News Center, WKTV News Channel 2, Booz Allen, Utica Boilers, Lodging Kit Company, Bond Schoeneck & King Attorneys, Teva, American Food & Vending, Fuller Tool Inc., A&P Master Images, Wildcat Hospitality, Roser Communications, Clifford Fuel, Mountain Ice and Baird Private Wealth Management/Matthew Savery CFA CFP.
